Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
Usually, Games from Ubisoft are encountered by hate. Keeping in mind, “do not judge a book by its cover” I started playing Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Thought to give my own views about it. So, I’m going to tell you, what I liked about this game and is it worth playing or not.
This Third Person Shooter and Open world game with one of the huge map of any game out there. Having almost 20 small and big provinces which consist at least one of Santa Blanca lieutenant Boss to defeat. With that, much to explore, interrogate to get information, weapon crates, medals, fast-travel locations etc.
Graphics being awesome and all kinds of terrain to explore (Snow, Desert, Jungle etc) in an open world game is just a plus to your enjoyment. Weapons modification has no limits and there are tons of stuff you need to discover and unlock for your customization. Different types of guns, their mods, grenades, drone’s upgrade and many more. Also, vehicles are very important in this game, especially, the ones with miniguns as your squad member equips it while you’re driving around, making your journey a lot easier. Helicopters are real fun, sometimes you just need 1 chopper to take out whole area as it has 2 miniguns and front main gun for player to shoot while flying. So, overall game and its aspects are quite interesting and beautiful.
One thing that always turns me down is a repetitive actions in any game. In start of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands, you’re going to love taking out bosses. However, it became repetitive in this game. As you need to beat almost 10 or more lieutenants to beat main boss for first ending. Criteria of defeating a boss is similar, you go into a province, locate an enemy’s underdog, learn a way to drag him out, do it and capture/kill it.
Every boss or underdog has a unique story and a different way to defeat them. That is a thing that will keep you interested, as story gradually progresses. Some are destroyed morally, some got interrogated and given choices to betray and for some, we clearly destroy their millions of dollars during a transport. It’s kinda fun beating down such a huge organization piece by piece. Adios Santa Blanca Organization.
I gave 95 points, just because of the story, which is the most interesting part of this game. At first, the game looked so dim due to its hard controls, took me some time to grab its basics to move on. But, the story was quite appealing which kept me going.
Story of a drug lord El Sueño, Leader of Santa Blanca organization, consist of all kinds of evil deeds. May it be child kidnapping, smuggling, bribery, power or anything evil you can think of which can earn him money were a part of it. There are four of El Sueño’s underlings (Right hand man) who also got lieutenants under them. Who were doing different fields of jobs appointed to them, to control over Bolivia. Smuggling, Marketing, Production, Influence, Security and Media.
The Santa Blanca organization consist of many top-tier criminals, below is the chart of organization’s heads.
A guerrilla team known as Ghost Recon team consist of four, is dispatched to Bolivia to run down this organization. Who clearly take careful actions to take down underdogs to lead them to their bosses and eventually lieutenants.
If you’re jumping from other similar games, it won’t be hard for you to grab of it. But, if you’re a gamer with other interests too, then, it will take quite some time. Ubisoft games are good in general terms but bugs, gameplay sluggishness and different control problems always become a reason of the generated hate. This is quite a good game but, still with latest updates, faced quite a lot of bugs. Especially, falling underground till i die, stucking between cliffs, landing chopper suddenly gets blown away out of no reason etc. With all these bugs and some tiny control issues, I still managed to love this game and quite really enjoyed my journey till 100% end.
Another awesome feature of this game, instead of A.I controlled squad members, you now get to play together with your friends. You can control a couple of vehicles around to get things done fast and easy. Compare to Single play mode, in which, you can only control one vehicle as a whole squad, in multiplayer co-op, it’s a blessing. Sync Shot is a good feature of SP where you can order your squad members to target different enemies and on your go signal, they shoot together. In MP mode, it still exists but instead of auto locating and shooting, your friends need to show their skills manually.
Considering a Ubisoft games, bugs should be a part of it and ignoring the fact. The game itself is a beautiful open world TPS game. Massive open-world and a huge map to discover and explore tons of places to find different weapons, mods or medals. Realistic touch to environment and such an amazing story that kept me loving it till end, should not be ignored. If you got some bucks to spare and free time on your hand, this is a must play game. It is not always a good way to read what others say, you should think and test things out on your own way. A lot of complains are always against Ubisoft, myself included. But, you might find a holding gem under all these rubbles you’ve always been looking for. So give it a go and i hope you’ll also it as much I did.
